Online Registration for 2026 now open, link on Home Page.

In Person Registration Mon 13th July at St Brigid’s Hall from 8.30 am.

In 2025 our Banjo Workshops were held at Tubbercurry GAA Club facilities on the Sligo Road.

As with other instruments introduced in more recent years to our programme of Workshops, the banjo has become increasingly popular thanks to the great teaching going on year round in this whole regioand last year we introduced Beginner Banjo, taught by local musician Sinead Johnston, which was very well received. This year Jarlath Brennan will be at the helm for beginners and improvers, teaching alongside Pat Sweeney and Kerrie Herrity.

Students with experience ranging from Improver to Advanced are also catered for.

Banjo (Beginner) w/ Sinéad Johnston

Sinéad Johnston

From Muckelty, Achonry, near Tubbercurry, Sinead has been playing banjo since she was a young girl and is equally accomplished on the mandolin. Having attended the summer school over the years and in more recent years leading the children and young peoples’ practice music sessions in Tubbercurry Community Library during the week of the summer school, we are delighted that she is available to teach this year. Sinead will be teaching beginner banjo and this class will be suited to those who already play another instrument and have a basic repertoire of tunes.
