Sean Nós Dance Workshops were introduced as an afternoon event at our summer school in recent years.

Proving very popular from the outset for dancers of all ages and levels of experience, the wonderful traditional dancer Brenda O’Callaghan led these Workshops initially, followed on by Leitrim dancer Edwina Guckian and more recently by Geevagh native Eiméar Mulvey. We are very fortunate to have such dedicated and passionate dance advocates in our region doing great work all year round.

In 2025 the children’s class was enhanced greatly with the presence of a group of local boys and girls from Lollipop Lane After School Creche facility. It was wonderful to witness all the happy faces and see the dancing feet tapping it out on the beautiful maple dance floor of St Brigid’s Hall as well as on the little Square at ‘Áit an Tobair’ for the final round up on Friday afternoon.

Sean-nós dancer Eiméar Mulvey hails from Geevagh, County Sligo. Eiméar is the 2018 senior Sean Nós Dancing All Ireland Champion at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and is the sole force behind ‘Club Damhsa Bróga Bríomhar’, Eiméar looks forward to knocking sparks out of the floor at this year’s South Sligo Summer School, where she will teach a mix of sean-nós, barrel and brush dancing steps with her students.
